Walking my dog this morning in Green Acres park I spotted this red-tailed hawk land and inadvertently cause the 🐿 on the tree trunk below to play hide and seek with it until the hawk flew off without a meal. #HamOnt #StoneyCreek #ATimeofGifts

So important for Canadians to know. The death rate was more than THREE times worse in for-profit LTC. And more than EIGHT times worse in for-profit LTC than publicly owned facilities. Nick Milanovic
On this day in 1904 in Camelon, Falkirk, Scotland, Thomas Clement Douglas the son of Annie (née Clement) and Thomas Douglas, an iron moulder, was born. In 1910, his family emigrated to Canada, where they settled in Winnipeg. He was educated at Brandon College and graduated in 1930, and completed his Master of Arts degree in sociology at McMaster University in 1933. He eventually became an MP, Premier of Saskatchewan and the first leader of the NDP in 1961 and most importantly was the founder of universal healthcare in Canada.
